FidelityLink Completes Fiber Ring and WAN Services to Pattonville School District

September 17, 2014 || PRESS RELEASE

FidelityLink, LLC has announced completion of a metro-fiber ring serving portions of Maryland Heights, St. Ann, Bridgeton and Creve Coeur, Missouri, and providing wide area network (WAN) services to Pattonville School District's ten locations.

The District's backbone is currently provisioned at 10 Gbps, but the District has the ability to increase that bandwidth at any time through simple equipment upgrades.

"We are pleased to have Pattonville School District as an enterprise customer in the St. Louis area," said Mark O'Neal, Vice President of Business Development for FidelityLink. "Pattonville's commitment to technology and its students is aligned with our core mission, which is to be a 'technology-enabler' for our customers."

FidelityLink is a subsidiary of Fidelity Communications Co., headquartered in Sullivan, Missouri, and was formed to focus on large enterprise customers, including school districts, hospitals, governmental entities and telecommunications carriers, all of whom require scalable, secure, robust, high-bandwidth solutions to meet their mission-critical business needs.

Pattonville's private WAN serves as the backbone for all of Pattonville's internal communications, including voice, data, Internet and video, and will support the District's future technology and bandwidth requirements, including state MAP testing requirements. Greg Southard, Director of Technology Services for Pattonville, said, "We chose FidelityLink, in part, for their ability to design and build a mission critical network that is cost-effective, reliable and fast."

Pattonville's WAN is designed in a ring topology with dual entrances into each of the District's locations, ensuring that no location has a single point of failure. Because the WAN uses fiber strands dedicated to the District, the network is secure and all available bandwidth is dedicated to the District's use. The District's backbone is currently provisioned at 10 Gbps, but the District has the ability to increase that bandwidth at any time through simple equipment upgrades.

"This ability to upgrade without the contract re-negotiation typical of other providers, like incumbent telephone or cable companies, is a 'game changer' for our customers, and enables them to control their own data destiny," O'Neal said. Leveraging the know-how of its affiliated operations, FidelityLink is in the process of deploying voice, Internet, video and other layered services over this network.

FidelityLink's St. Louis network was engineered and constructed by ADB Companies, Inc., which is headquartered in the St. Louis area, and designs and builds large fiber projects throughout the United States.
